On SATURDAY 25TH MAY 2013 the PLOCKTON SMALL BOAT SAILING CLUB (PSBSC) will be hosting a sponsored coastal row starting from EILEAN DONAN CASTLE in Dornie TO DUNCRAIG CASTLE in Plockton. PSBSC would like to invite crews from other local organisations and sports teams to enter. Entrants are encouraged to raise sponsorship on behalf of charities of their choosing with race entry fees going to towards a NEW OUTBOARD ENGINE for the PSBSC's safety boat.

And crews wishing to take part without a boat will be given assistance in trying to source one. The entry fee will be £10 per rower (£40 per boat). Please feel free to enter your own boats, especially those not usually associated with the PSBSC.

The CLACHAN BAR has very kindly agreed to open early to sell tea, coffee and breakfast rolls on the morning of the event, while drinks and a BBQ will be served at the PSBSC Boat Shed after the event and into the evening. WE ALSO WELCOME NON-COMPETITORS TO COME ALONG IN THE EVENING AND JOIN US FOR SOME REFRESHMENT. SO PLEASE EVERYBODY COME ALONG AND MAKE IT A DAY TO REMEMBER!

This Tuesday is Club Night for Stage 1 and 2 juniors plus adults sailors.  PSBSC looks forward to welcoming sailors back for our 2013 sailing season.  Please bring your subscriptions along on Club Nights and Alison French (Membership Secretary) will collect them.  Forms and details can be found on the 'How to join PSBSC' page or just click on the links below.  For junior sailors, both the membership form and the junior consent form need to be completed.

Anyone who would like to volunteer their time keeping services for the forthcoming sailing season please get in touch .   No experience necessary and training will be given during May before racing starts.

To enable junior sailors to helm the boats they want as well as sail in conditions appopirate for their sailing level (RYA stage) we're trying something new for Club nights in 2013.  Juniors will be split into two sailing groups and will start their respective Club nights on the dates below:

Group 1: RYA stage 1 and 2 junior sailors + adults Tuesday 23 April 5.00pm

Group 2: RYA stage 3 and above junior sailors + adults Tuesday 30 April 5.00pm

Each group will come along on alternate weeks at the usual time of 5.00pm.  Adult sailors can come along any week.  Be sure to check the sailing calendar so that you come along on the right week!

In addition to the above, there is a monthy adult-only night on a Thursday starting at the slightly later time of 6.00pm. The first one of these will take place on Thursday 16 May

The 2013 sailing calendar has been finalised and is now available in the 'Racing & Sailing' section of the website. Additionally, the 2013 Regatta programme is also available. Both include times of social events.

PSBSC have been recognised at the RYA Scotland annual awards dinner in Largs, taking home the coveted prize of RYA Scotland Club of the Year. Our Commodore and Secretary were there to receive the award from Luke Patience - recent silver medalist in the 470 class at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The award was sponsored by ICOM, so we also won a waterproof, floating hand held VHF radio! Well done to all involved in the club - and perhaps especially to those who have given their time over many, many years to make the club what it is today. A fitting start to our 80th Anniversary Year!

The club will be holding an open meeting for all juniors ahead of the start of the new sailing season. This is your chance to have your say about what you enjoy about the club or what you think could be improved. Your ideas and your views and important, so come along and have your say! Parents welcome too!
